Marjorie Taylor Greene reaffirms opposition to Ukraine aid

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) told Lesley Stahl during a 60 Minutes interview that “The United States needs to be pushing for peace in Ukraine, not funding a proxy war with Russia.”

Greene also told Stahl that she is against providing financial aid and ammunition to Ukraine.

“Ukraine is not the 51st state of the United States,” she said.

Stahl did ask Greene whether it was appropriate to allow Russia to take land belonging to Ukraine.  Greene replied by saying that her focus is on the needs of the American people.

“It’s not about what’s right and wrong in Ukraine because we’re the United States of America,” Greene said. “We have mud all over our face, Lesley. We’re $31 trillion in debt. We’re not defending our own border. We’re ignoring our own people’s problems.”

Greene also said during the interview that her main reason for running for Congress in 2020 was due to the lack of support received by Donald Trump from his GOP colleagues at the time when they controlled both chambers.

Greene currently serves on the Committee on Homeland Security, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and the Select Subcommittee on the COVID-19 pandemic.
