Costco limits purchases of toilet paper, paper towels, and bottled water amid inflation & supply chain issues

Due to the latest surge in COVID-19 cases, Costco has started to limit the number of toilet paper, bottled water, and other supplies.

The Chief Financial Officer of Costco , Richard Galanti, stated that “We’re putting some limitations on key items like bat tissues, roll towels, signature water, high-demand cleaning-related skews related to the uptick in adults=related demand.”

Costco is also having issues getting the products onto the shelves in the stores due to “port delays, container shortages, COVID disruptions, shortages on various components, raw materials and ingredients, labor cost pressures and truck and driver shortages” [CBS].

They added on to that, saying, “Major brands are requesting longer lead times, and in some cases, difficult in finding drivers and trucks on short notice.” Costco simply cannot get the items onto their shelves due to various hurdles [Anchorage Daily News].
