At a press briefing on Thursday, right before taking questions from reporters, Biden said, “Ladies and gentlemen, they gave me a list here. The first person I was instructed to call on was Kelly O’Donnell of NBC.”
The media engagement continued as usual, with O’Donnell kicking it off. It is unclear whether or not all of President Biden’s interactions with reporters are “instructed,” although the American people have their speculations after numerous questionable incidents.
For instance, in March, a live stream meeting with President Biden and House Dems on Wednesday was abruptly cut off after Biden opened himself to questions. Another odd interaction occurred in July when a reporter asked if “there are people in the Democratic Party who want to defund the police.”
President Biden immediately responded by asking if “there are people in the Republican Party who think we’re sucking the blood out of kids.” In contrast to his behavior, the administration’s communications director claimed the President “never shies away from questions.”
