CNN technical director, Charlie Chester, privately admitted the media outlet’s ‘propaganda’ efforts against former President Donald Trump. The undercover operation was launched by Project Veritas after a journalist matched with Chester, who included his employer in his bio, on Tinder.
According to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile, Chester began to work for CNN in 2018. In his position as a technical director, he has no editorial vote, however, his work immerses him in the media culture of CNN and the slant they acquire. During the undercover recording, Chester states, “Look what we did, we [CNN] got Trump out. I am 100% going to say it, and I 100% believe that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out…I came to CNN because I wanted to be a part of that.”
He goes on to claim that the network built a story concerning Trump’s health on ‘speculation.’ In reference to an incident when Trump’s hand was shaking, Chester says, “We [CNN] were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what — I think that’s propaganda.” In regard to the 2020 Presidential Election, Chester confirmed CNN’s positive bias towards Joe Biden, stating, “We would always show shots of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy, you know, and him in aviator shades. Like you paint him as a young geriatric.”
According to Chester, CNN’s next propaganda efforts will be fueling climate change fear. Chester claimed, “They’ve already announced in our office that once the public is — will be open to it — we’re going to start focusing mainly on climate.” Chester believes that once the pandemic is mitigated, the media outlet will adjust its lens to focus on the climate and keep its ratings high with fear. As he told the undercover investigator, “It [COVID] will taper off to a point that it’s not a problem anymore. Climate change can take years, so they’ll [CNN will] probably be able to milk that quite a bit…Climate change is going to be the next COVID thing for CNN…Fear sells.”
CNN has yet to release a statement concerning Project Veritas’ undercover investigation and their employee’s statements. In Project Veritas’ latest exposé, new undercover video footage of Chester admits that CNN hyped the COVID-19 pandemic. In one segment, he said, “COVID? Gangbusters with ratings…” The new Project Veritas’ footage confirms CNN’s incredible bias from an insider. It also confirms the lack of trust in traditional media, which fewer than half of all Americans still have, according to Edelman’s annual trust barometer, via Axios.
On Sean Hannity’s Monday night program for Fox News, Project Veritas founder, James O’Keefe stated that more undercover recordings will be released this week. O’Keefe also asserted that Project Veritas will be suing CNN for defamation. The organization has been falsely defined as fake news and misinformation by multiple media outlets, and they recently won a defamation lawsuit against the New York Times.
