President Biden announces ‘Red Flag Laws’ as part of new executive orders on guns

Last week, the Biden administration released their new gun recitations that they hope to implement within the next few months, according to The Epoch Times.

The report states that within the next 30 days, Biden will propose a rule which will prevent the spread of ghost guns or guns that are made with build it yourself kits. Another rule which will be proposed is declaring a “red flag” if and when someone takes a stabilizing brace and turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle. According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of the Red Flag Law is: a law allowing courts to prevent people who show signs of being a danger to themselves or to others from having access to firearms (as by ordering the seizure of weapons).

During Biden’s White House speech this past Thursday he pushed the idea that a person could buy “whatever you want” at a gun show and without receiving a background check. His exact words were “Most people don’t know it, you walk into a store and you buy a gun, you have a background check. But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want and no background check,”. However, it is federal law that commercial sales of guns have to be performed by someone who has a Federal Firearms License and it is mandatory for he/she to perform a background check of the buyer and then they must record the sale. This is mandatory no matter where the sale is taking place.

This announcement didn’t come without any push back. Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott was one of the first to speak about by tweeting this strong message “Biden is threatening our second Amendment rights. He just announced a new liberal power grab to take away our guns. We will not allow this in TX. It’s time to get legislation making TX a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary state passed and to my desk for signing.”

The Governor of Alaska, Mike Dunleavy tweeted, “These actions won’t save lives or stop criminals, but they will disarm law abiding citizens. The list of republican disgust continued. The conservative governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, didn’t hold back with her opinions on the matter. According to the Daily Wire Governor Kim Reynolds came out with a statement saying, “I think it is out of control and it is obvious that they can’t get it through Congress and so he’s acting on his own. He’s doing it at rapid speed. There has not been another president, I don’t think, in history that has implemented the number of Executive Orders that this president has implemented. And the hypocrisy of running as an uniter and a president that was going to bring both parties together and heal this county, he has done anything but that. He is continuing to divide the country and he is doing it through outlandish Executive Orders.”

The republican Governor of South Dakota, Kristi Noem tweeted She recently tweeted “Biden claims that his actions won’t infringe on the 2nd amendment. That is false! Taking away guns with Red Flag laws is infringement. Placing new limits on firearm sales is infringement. Curbing ammo is infringement.”

Republican Governor of Wyoming, Mark Gordon took his position by tweeting “Wyoming is, has always been, and will continue to be a state where 2nd amendment rights are recognized and protected. I oppose any orders or actions imposed from the federal level that infringe on this fundamental right.” The second portion of his tweet continued by saying “Today I signed HB 236 which prohibits financial institutions and payment processors in Wyoming from discriminating against firearms businesses engaged in lawful commerce.”

Another republican Governor spoke out against the proposal, Governor Brad Little from Idaho. His twitter account came out with a statement from the Governor “Idaho will not stand for President Biden’s unilateral actions to erode your Second Amendment rights. Idaho’s Congressional delegation and I are in lockstep in our opposition to the President’s actions and his direction to Congress to strip law-abiding Americans of their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

This didn’t just get the attention of republican governors. A gun rights group called Gun Owners of America pushed back on Joe Biden saying Joe Biden’s executive orders were unconstitutional and tyrannical. The Senior Vice President of Gun Owners of America made a commitment to “spare no expense to defeat Biden’s tyrannical agenda.”
