Former special counsel Robert Mueller to publicly testify Wednesday about his report on President Trump and possible Russian interference in the 2016 election

Robert Mueller, the former special counsel, began testifying before the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET. His testimony, with the purpose to discuss his recently released report on the investigation of President Trump and possible Russian interference in the 2016 election, will continue until around 11:30 am ET where he will take a short break and resume testifying at noon before the House Intelligence Committee. ~

According to the Wall Street Journal, the public testimony of Robert Mueller is said by democrats to be “crucial to their goal of educating the public about Russian interference in the 2016 election and the information in the report on President Trump’s efforts to stifle the related federal investigation.” The suspected goal of the testimony for many democrats is to build public support for opening up impeachment inquiry on President Donald Trump. In contrast, a lawyer for President Trump by the name of Jay Sekulow, said in a statement that “Bob Mueller has already stated that his report is his testimony. We now expect that his testimony on July 17 will be his report. In that report, he concluded that there was no collusion or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia. We also expect that he will have to answer questions regarding some of the irregularities that took place during his investigation, not the least of which involve Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.” ~

It remains unclear whether Mueller’s Wednesday morning testimony has so far provided any new information that could help the case of Democrats or Republicans. Stay tuned for more information on the testimony and its contents soon to come. ~
