A long-time Las Vegas news reporter was found fatally stabbed outside his home on Saturday morning, and police are on the hunt for his killer.
Las Vegas police released photos of the suspect, whose identity remains unknown, on Monday. According to officials, the reporter, 69-year old Jeff German, had possibly been involved in an altercation with someone prior to the stabbing. A neighbor found German and contacted authorities to report the death around 10:30AM on Saturday.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has subsequently released photos of the suspect’s vehicle, a black SUV, as well as the suspect, who is seen in security photos wearing a wide-brimmed straw sun hat, a bright orange long-sleeved vest with reflective strips on it, jeans, gray shoes, and carrying a large duffel bag.
LVMPD is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the suspect, who remains unidentified. The incident took place near Vegas Drive and Tenaya Way sometime on September 3.
German was well-known in Las Vegas for his investigative reporting for the Las Vegas Review Journal. He had led the charge on reporting after the 2017 mass shooting that took place at a country music event and left 60 people dead and over 400 injured.
German had been with the Review Journal since 2010, and before that had spent over 20 years as a crime and court reporter at the Las Vegas Sun.
Anyone with information or video footage of the area between Vegas Drive and Rock Springs Drive anytime on Friday from 8AM-1PM is urged to call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police at 702-828-7777 or @CrimeStoppersNV.
