Gov. DeSantis says there will be a ‘cold war’ coming between Florida, Georgia if Stacey Abrams is elected

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) warned of a potential “Cold War” between Florida and Georgia if Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams is elected governor of Georgia.
DeSantis made these remarks on Friday during a press conference in Gulf County, Florida.
According to the Hill, DeSantis urged voters to prevent Abrams from winning. “If Stacey Abrams is elected governor of Georgia, I just want to be honest, that will be a cold war between Florida and Georgia,” he said. “I can’t have Castro to my south and Abrams to my north. That would be a disaster. So I hope you guys take care of that and we’ll end up in good shape.”
Abrams previously ran for governor, and is a former state House minority leader. She is running uncontested in the Democratic primary field. However, she will face competition in the general election against Republican incumbent Governor Brian Kemp and former Republican Senator David Perdue.
Recent polls show Abrams is trailing Kemp by a 51% to 44% margin and Perdue by 49% to 44%. Kemp previously beat Abrams in the gubernatorial race in 2018. Abrams and DeSantis have two very different views on many issues, including gun control, immigration, and the LGBTQ community.
