Google whistleblower claims search engine ‘rewrote algorithms to go after Trump’ during 2020 election

A Google whistleblower claimed the search engine ‘rewrote algorithms to go after Trump.’

Former employee Zach Vorhies shared internal documents explaining Google’s ranking of search results, news stories in particular. He told the Times, “This is called real-time, hive-mind scoring. They literally built it, they re-wrote it according to the fight that Trump was having with [James] Comey.” Vorhies became an outspoken critic of the big tech company after first sharing documents with Project Veritas in 2019.

Earlier this month, he spoke to the Epoch Times about his upcoming book, “Google Leaks: A Whistleblower’s Exposé of Big Tech Censorship” co-written with Kent Heckenlively. Outlets including the Epoch Times and Breitbart have reported experiencing censorship by Google, causing a decrease in visibility and exposure within the algorithm.

In 2020, Project Veritas gave Vorhies a platform for his expose, writing “While working at YouTube in his final years, Zach Vorhies learned that Google was censoring ‘fake news’ and investigated further into the company. Only to find that indeed not only had Google defined fake news to mean actual events that had happened, but also had created an artificial intelligence system to classify all available data to Google Search.”

The tampering of algorithms allows creators to promote certain content over others, thereby altering the flow of information in the public square. Veritas continued, “The reason Google wanted to classify all the data was so that this could be used by this artificial intelligence system to re-rank the ENTIRE INTERNET according to Google’s corporate cultural values.”
