A video shows a Haitian mob capturing two of President Jovenel Moise’s alleged assassins.
The two Colombian men are bound with rope and led through the streets of Port-au-Prince with their faces bloodied. The suspects were found hiding in the neighborhood of Petion-Ville, near the president’s property.
FBA previously reported on Moise’s assassination, “A group of armed men assassinated Haitian President Jovenel Moïse and wounded his wife in an overnight raid on their home Wednesday, with police killing four suspects and arresting two others hours later amid growing chaos in a country already enduring gang violence and protests of his increasingly authoritarian rule.”
The suspects were allegedly attacked with machetes, prior to officers placing the suspects in the back of a truck, according to a reporter from the Associated Press. Onlookers shouted, “They killed the president! Give them to us! We’re going to burn them!” An angry crowd proceeded to set fire to cars believed to be used by the suspects. Leon Charles, director of the Haitian national police said, “I told them to stop. We need evidence.”
