The rally, hosted by Trump’s political action committee, Save America, will precede a firework show in light of Independence Day. In celebration of July 4th, the event will focus on Make America Great Again campaign values and accomplishments. Co-sponsoring the event will be the Republican Party of Florida, the former president’s home state.
Sarasota will be Trump’s second rally following his presidency. The first stop is scheduled for Saturday, June 26 in Wellington, Ohio. Trump seeks to help former adviser Max Miller in his campaign against Republican Representative Anthony Gonzalez. Following the January 6th capitol riot, Gonzalez was one of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach the president.
Upon Miller announcing his campaign for the house, Trump expressed his support, stating, “Max Miller is a wonderful person who did a great job at the White House and will be a fantastic Congressman. He is a Marine Veteran, a son of Ohio, and a true PATRIOT. Current Rep. Anthony Gonzalez should not be representing the people of the 16th district because he does not represent their interest or their heart.” These events will be the first time Trump speaks to supporters at a rally since the Stop the Steal event on January 6th, which preceded the riot within the capitol.
