An email query was sent to top Biden spokesperson Jen Psaki from the Washington Examiner and gave an automatic reply of out of office from Sunday to the next weekend.
The request for comment included questions about Biden’s plans to address the situation in Afghanistan and when he might be taking questions from the media. In the automatic response also included other members to reach out to for comment, and the Washington Examiner reached out to them.
This information comes as Biden is also away at Camp David in Maryland and has not been accessible to reporters during this time. On Sunday the White House tweeted a photo of Biden receiving a briefing, all the while the Taliban was taking over the capital of Kabul and US officials were trying to evacuate Afghanistan. Biden was scheduled for a 2-week vacation and is expected to speak Monday at 3:45 pm.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke on differing talk shows about the administration and the matters in Afghanistan on Sunday. Last Wednesday, Psaki commented on the situation in Afghanistan as “the Taliban also has to make an assessment about what they want their role to be in the international community” (Washington Examiner).
