Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has agreed to interview with Jan. 6 committee

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, who is a conservative activist, has agreed to an interview with the January 6th panel. There is some controversy surrounding the case since Thomas is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Virginia Thomas’ attorney, Mark Paoletta, said Thomas is “eager to answer the committee’s questions to clear up any misconceptions about her work relating to the 2020 election.”

The committee has sought an interview with Thomas for some time as they are keen to ascertain whether she had any role in the January 6th riot.

The extent of Thomas’s involvement in the January 6th riots remains unknown, however Thomas has maintained that she did attend Trump’s speech on January 6th but left before he took to the stage. She also said that her political views do not cause a conflict with her husband Clarence Thomas’s position on The Supreme Court.

“Like so many married couples, we share many of the same ideals, principles, and aspirations for America. But we have our own separate careers, and our own ideas and opinions too. Clarence doesn’t discuss his work with me, and I don’t involve him in my work,” Thomas said in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon.

Thomas’s decision to speak to the committee comes as they are in the process of concluding their work before the end of the year and are currently writing penning a final report, which will document their findings on about the Capitol riots.

If Republican’s take the House and Senate in November’s midterms, they have hinted that they will dissolve the panel by January. The committee have therefore said that their final report will be completed by December.

The committee announced on Wednesday that it will recommence for a hearing on September 28th, which will likely be their final hearing.

Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, who is the committee’s Republican vice chairwoman, spoke at the hearing in July and announced that the committee “has far more evidence to share with the American people and more to gather.”

“Doors have opened, new subpoenas have been issued and the dam has begun to break,” Cheney went onto say.
