Rasmussen poll: 53% of voters agree with Roger Stone’s depiction of FBI as ‘Biden’s personal Gestapo’

A recent poll conducted on “Biden’s Gestapo” shows that the FBI’s raid on Mar-A-Lago may have damaged their approval rating and credibility with independents.

The poll found that 53% of voters agreed with former Trump adviser Roger Stone when he referred to the FBI as “Biden’s personal Gestapo.” Broken down, that number includes 49% of independents and 37% of Democrats. 

Additionally, 46 percent of voters, who do not alight with either the Democratic or Republican Party, have less trust in the FBI, while only 18 percent said their trust in the FBI has increased after the raid. Another 29 percent of independent voters said the raid did not change their opinion and 7 percent remain undecided.

A separate Economist/YouGov poll conducted from August 13 to 16, showed that independent voters generally approved of the search. In that poll, 47 percent of independent voters said they agreed with the FBI’s raid, while 37 percent said they disagreed.

The search of Mar-A-Lago was approved by Attorney General Merrick Garland, with the warrant then being signed off by a federal judge. The FBI conducted the search with the intention of obtaining classified documents they believed were being held in Mar-A-Lago.

The boxes of items removed from Mar-a-Lago included information classified as top secret and other sensitive information, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. The boxes were also said to contain binders of photos, a handwritten note, the official document granting a pardon to Roger Stone, a close Trump ally, as well as information about the “President of France,” Emmanuel Macron.

Trump himself has strongly condemned both the FBI and The Justice Department called the search a “witch hunt” designed to stop him running for President in 2024.

Republicans who held a “very favorable” view of Trump also increased after the raid. The Economist/YouGov also showed that 57 percent of those who identified as Republican strongly support Trump.
