Republican Rep. Greg VanWorkom, who has represented Michigan’s 91st district since 2018, announced this week he will run for reelection in the newly-drawn 88th district.
“This is a critical time for our state and our region as we emerge from the pandemic,” VanWoerkom said in a statement. “We need to focus on getting people back to work, keeping our businesses and schools open and addressing the rising costs stemming from poor public policy.”
He added, “It is an honor to serve and be the voice for the residents of West Michigan,” he said. “I am excited to continue my efforts on solving problems that matter most to families and setting up our region for future growth and success.”
Due to redistricting this year, Muskegon County was split from two districts into four. VanWoerkom is set to run in the primary election, which will be held on August 2.
