Southern Progess, a political action committee, is looking to raise $300,000 for billboards in Florda that say “Gay.”
The PAC directly opposes Republican politicians in southern states, and is attempting to oppose the Florida legislation some are calling the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
According to the Daily Caller, the ad campaign will feature signs and billboards with the simply phrases of “GAY” or “SAY GAY.” Southern Progress’s goal is to target the Parental Rights in Education bill that was recently passed by the Florida legislature.
HB 1557 specifically states that “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
The project has been promoted by MeidasTouch, which is a Democrat-linked political action committee. MeidasTouch tweeted pictures of the billboards, writing, “You ready to make a statement in Florida? We are partnering to put these up all over Florida beginning this week. Retweet this and send it to everyone you know.”
Southern Progress has also been known to endorse Democratic candidates in the south. Their mission states the company strives to “speak truth to power and expose the extremist agenda of Republican politicians that seek power for themselves while trampling on the rights of the people they claim to respect.” They are asking for fundraising on their website.
