Former Ukraine ambassador says Guiliani was Trump’s ‘personal dirt-digger’ in new book

In a new book by former US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, the diplomat slams Rudy Giuliani, who she claims acted as former president Trump’s “personal dirt-digger,” and outlines how Giuliani helped Trump spread “lies and half-truths” to the United States and the world.

In “Lessons From The Edge,” Yovanovitch details her knowledge of how former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani worked alongside corrupt former Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko to spread disinformation about then-candidate Joe Biden to give Trump an advantage in the 2020 election.

According to Yovanovitch, Lutsenko “had concocted a tale of lies and half-truths to oblige Giuliani.” She continues, “Lutsenko reshaped actions that Biden had taken to hold corrupt Ukrainians to account and twisted them into the opposite.”

Yovanovitch goes on to describe how Lutsenko and Giuliani worked together to coordinate her own abrupt firing in 2019. She explains Guiliani had a vendetta against her because he believed she blocked a US travel visa for former Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, with whom Giuliani wanted to meet to press him for information about Hunter Biden’s connection to Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company.

The former ambassador also writes in the new book that she quickly learned that while she had previously believed such corruption could reach the highest seat of US government, “where Trump’s administration was concerned, all bets were off.”
