Former NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo launches statewide ad campaign to clear his name

Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo launched a new ad campaign aimed at clearing his name after a series of sexual misconduct allegations forced him to resign from office late last year.

The ad, which runs about thirty seconds, starkly points out the decisions made by several prosecutors not to pursue charges against Cuomo, citing lack of evidence, and ends with the words “Political attacks won. And New Yorkers lost a proven leader,” across the screen.

The former governor has largely stayed out of the public eye since his resignation, but recently has hinted at resurrecting his reputation if not his career after none of the sexual assault allegations yielded any charges or convictions.

“Accusations fly around the world at the speed of light, but the truth crawls at a snail’s pace,” Rich Azzopardi, said a spokesman for Cuomo on Monday.
