Rep. Jim Jordan echos Trump’s call to jail Clinton campaign aides

According to Business Insider, former President Donald Trump released a statement on Saturday claiming the Clinton campaign spied on his campaign and presidency “in an effort to develop a completely fabricated connection to Russia.”

His comments come in response to a new court filing by special counsel John Durham that says the Clinton campaign paid a tech company to access Trump Tower servers and the Trump White House to find links to Russia.

Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) echoed Trump’s statements, saying “That is what is so frightening here. You had the government working with the Clinton campaign to go after the Republican Party’s nominee for president to spy on that campaign.” Jordan went further as to say that “President Trump’s statement yesterday I think is right on Target.”

Trump continued in his press release, “This is a scandal far greater in scope and magnitude than Watergate and those who were involved in and knew about this spying operation should be subject to criminal prosecution. In a stronger period of time in our country, this crime would have been punishable by death.”

The motion filed by Duham on February 11th specifically focuses on potential conflicts of interests related to former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman who has been charged with making a false statement to a federal agent (Fox News).

Sussman has since pleaded guilty to this charge. The statement in question comes less than two months prior to the 2016 presidential election when he stated he was working “for any client.”

However, Durham’s filing reveals that Sussman “had assembled and conveyed the allegations to the FBI on behalf of at least two specific clients, including a technology executive (Tech Executive 1) at a U.S.-based internet company (Internet Company 1) and the Clinton campaign.”
