Host on HBO’s Real Time Bill Maher said that the people participating in the Freedom Convoy in Canada has the right to be “p*ssed off” at those who are “staying home in their Lululemon’s.”
Maher also compared Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Hitler as Trudeau questioned whether unvaccinated in the country should be “tolerated.”
Maher said that he “wasn’t that into the first couple weeks” of the protests in Canada, and he questioned “why truckers” were the ones who were protesting the vaccine mandates for their profession when “90 percent of them are vaccinated.”
But during his show on Friday, Maher said, “What’s happening this week, it looks like, is people are understanding his is about something more than just the vaccine mandate.”
The host continued, “It’s becoming a big thing. It’s happening all over the world now. They’re thinking it might happen here in Washington on Super Bowl Sunday.”
Maher pointed to the “elitist” culture that includes those who are “staying home in their Lululemon’s” and those who can afford to “wait out for a free vacation and money from the government.” He added that the elites do not understand why “those who can’t” are angry. “They’re pissed off – the people who can’t.”
Additional protesters were expected to show up in Ottawa over the past weekend, and more convoys from the United States are heading to the Canadian border as the protest enters its third week.
The protests have spread to three main border points, which include the Ambassador Bridge, North America’s most frequented land border crossing. Police began clearing the blockade at that position, and protesters were seen clearing the area.
