Russian man who killed his friend for raping his daughter will not be charged

A Russian factory worker who killed his best friend after finding out the man had raped the factory worker’s eight year old daughter.

The girl’s father, Vyacheslav Matrosov, was with his best friend, Oleg Sviridov, 32, when he happened to see a video on Sviridov’s phone of Sviridov raping Matrosov’s daughter. He then confronted Sviridov, who ran.

The girl’s father found Sviridov before authorities did, and stabbed him to death. He claimed Sviridov “stumbled on the knife during a quarrel.”

Locals hailed Matrosov as a hero, and say he saved other children from harm from Sviridov. “He is not a murderer — he protected his daughter and our children too. Everyone is on his side,” said one social media commenter. Police found at least three other children on Sviridov’s cell phone, and are investigating those cases, as well.

While Matrosov will not be charged with murder, he is being charged with inciting Sviridov to commit suicide, after evidence suggested he forced his daughter’s assailant to dig his own grave.
