Conservatives criticize AOC for dining outdoors without a mask in Miami

Conservative media and Twitter users have criticized Democrat congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) this week after she was photographed dining outdoors in Miami without a mask.

Earlier this week pictures of AOC dining at a Miami restaurant with her boyfriend were released by The National Review. The couple were not wearing masks while dining outdoors, which is in compliance with Miami’s COVID-19 protocols, which state masks do not need to be worn when actively dining.

Conservatives were quick to criticize AOC, who has been pro-vaccine and pro-mask mandates throughout the pandemic, for allegedly ‘appearing to not follow her own advice.’

Team DeSantis, a group endorsed by the Florida governor, Tweeted, “Welcome to Florida, AOC! We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to @RonDeSantisFL’s leadership.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s trip to Florida occurred prior to the CDC issuing new guidance this week advising against travel amid the COVID-19 surge. The US is currently experiencing a massive spike in COVID cases as the omicron variant continues to spread.
