President Biden tells governors there is ‘no federal solution’ to winter Omicron wave

President Joe Biden threw Covid-19 responsibility to state governors and cited ‘no federal solution’ to the Omicron wave.

Biden stressed that the surge in cases could only be combated by governors promoting vaccinations and testing.

According to the Washington Examiner, Biden said. “Look, there is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level. And then ultimately gets down to where the rubber meets the road, and that’s where the rubber meets the road, and that’s where the patience is in need of help or preventing the need for help.”

“The bottom line is I want to assure the American people that we’re prepared. We know what it takes, and as this group of bipartisan governors shown, we’re gonna get through by working together,” he continued.

Many governors have resisted reimplemented Covid restrictions in light of the surge (CNN). Some have reimposed mask mandates in light of pending hospitalization spikes.

Biden received positive feedback from the governors he met with. “They didn’t tell me they’re worried, but they thanked me for the cooperation they’re getting. They said they’ve gotten all that they need, they just want to know what we think is going to happen from here,” he said. “There were no complaints, a lot of cooperation.”
