Donald Trump calls Chris Cuomo’s suspension from CNN ‘great news’

CNN indefinitely suspended host Chris Cuomo this week once it was alleged he was more heavily involved than previously thought in helping his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, after he was accused of sexual harassment.

Former President Donald Trump celebrated the suspension as he was frequently criticized by Cuomo. Taking to his “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” the former president wrote, “Great news for television viewers, they have just suspended Chris Cuomo indefinitely!”

He continued, “The big question is, was it because of his horrendous ratings, which in all fairness have permeated CNN and MSDNC, or was it because his brother is no longer Governor? Probably both. In any event, Fredo is gone!”

CNN announced on Tuesday that Cuomo would be suspended as the network evaluates his conduct in relation to the New York Attorney General’s investigation into former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

“The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense,” said a statement from CNN. “The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly.”

The statement continued, “But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

While Cuomo did appear on his evening show on Monday, host Anderson Cooper, who has been with the network since 2001,took over the 9 p.m. slot on Tuesday.
