On the basis of failed leadership in the unsuccessful US withdrawal from Afghanistan and the death of 13 service members, House Republicans filed articles of impeachment for State Department Secretary Anthony Blinken.
Representatives Ralph Norman and Representative Andy Harris initiated the articles of impeachment with support from numerous representatives calling for the firing of resignation from members of the Biden administration. These Republican representatives include Mary Miller, Mike Johnson, Don Bacon, Chris Stewart, and Jackie Walorski.
However, the Biden administration has not expressed plans to fire any personnel or government officials. When asked if President Biden will ask for the resignation of any White House officials, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said, “I have not heard him say so.”
Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan, they have taken control of former US military bases, persecuted Christians, and oversaw an attack by ISIS which killed hundreds of Afghans and 13 American military members. Since the initial power grab, President Biden has expressed apathy, from returning to his vacation, putting off press briefings, and failing to order the military to begin evacuation efforts.
