Taliban allegedly set woman on fire after forcing her to cook for them

This weekend, members of the Taliban allegedly set a woman on fire to punish her for her poor cooking after they forced her to cook food for them.

A former Afghani judge and activist, Najla Ayoubi, told SkyNews last week that according to her sources, women and girls are going into hiding across Afghanistan, while many others are being sold as sex slaves by the Taliban and being transported out of the country. “They are forcing people to give them food and cook them food. A woman was put on fire because she was accused of bad cooking for Taliban fighters,” Ayoubi said.

According to Ayoubi, some of the women and girls are being shipped in coffins in order to smuggle them across borders for sex trafficking. Ayoubi fled the country when the Taliban began taking more control of Afghanistan, and said she has since received multiple reports of violence against women. She added that she has also heard many female activists are in hiding due to fear of violence [FOX].

The international community has called on the Taliban to preserve the rights and freedoms of Afghan women and girls, signing a joint statement that reads, “We are deeply worried about Afghan women and girls, their rights to education, work and freedom of movement. We call on those in positions of power and authority across Afghanistan to guarantee their protection,” the statement read. “We in the international community stand ready to assist them with humanitarian aid and support, to ensure that their voices can be heard.” The United States was a signatory nation on the statement.
