US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced that he and his husband, Chasten, are becoming parents through adoption.
“For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family. We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us,” Buttigieg Tweeted.
The new dads are on a list to adopt a child who was abandoned or surrendered, they have been waiting for a year now. Pete Buttigieg is the son of Joseph Buttigieg, a Marxist professor who studied Antonio Gramsci who was the Italian Communist Party founder and worked with Vladamir Lenin.
Prior to working in the Biden Administration, the younger Buttigieg served as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, during which he married Chasten in 2018. Prior to his unsuccessful bid for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
