Texas GOP leader who railed against vaccines, masks has now died of COVID-19

Texas Republican Party official H. Scott Apley passed away on August 4th, after contracting COVID-19.

The Galveston County GOP stated, “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share the news of the death of H Scott Apley, our friend, our Patriot in Arms, our State Republican Executive Committeeman, Precinct Chair, Dickinson City Council Member.” Apley was an outspoken critic of COVID-19 vaccine and mask mandates, which has drawn increased criticism following his death.

Days before his hospitalization, Apley posted a Tweet on Facebook, reading, “In 6 months, we’ve gone from the vax ending the pandemic – to you can still get covid even if you’re vaxxed – to you can pass covid onto others even if vaxxed – to you can die of covid even if vaxxed – to the unvaxxed are killing the vaxxed.”

His entire Facebook profile is now filled with hateful messages, such as “How does it feel like to die from a hoax?” and “Congrats on fighting for your right to die, and winning.”
