One of former president Donald Trump’s White House press secretaries said in an interview that Trump would be running for president again in 2024.
Sean Spicer was Trump’s first White House press secretary, serving from January 20, 2017 – July 21, 2017. Spicer was interviewed by the Washington Examiner in advance of his new book, “Radical Nation: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s Dangerous Plan for America”, being released. In the interview, he said, “He’s in”. He continued: “A couple of months ago I wasn’t sure [if he would run]. Now, there needs to be something that will keep him out.”
Spicer claimed that between Biden’s “bumbles” and the immigration issues that are seemingly not being addressed by the Biden administration, Trump is looking to the 2022 midterms and beyond. He added that the former president has raised over $102 million, lost weight, and worked on maintaining high approval ratings.
Last week there were rumors from Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief-of-staff, that the former president had called his cabinet together at this New Jersey property. There they allegedly discussed the “field he might face.” John McLaughlin, a pollster, believes that Trump’s ratings go up the more Biden “fails.”
However, he is unsure if Trump would continue running if the GOP takes the House and Senate majorities in 2022. Throughout 2021, but especially throughout the summer, there have been reports and confirmations from people close to Trump claiming that he plans to run again in 2024.
