Christine Weston Chandler, 39, better known as Chris Chan and is the creator of a popular webcomic series, faces a felony charge of incest, which could put them in prison for up to 12 years.
Chandler was charged with incest after an 8-minute audio recording and text messages leaked across the internet that purported to depict Chandler describing how she had sexual relations with her 79-year-old mother in detail. In the audio clip, Chandler apparently tells a friend that her mother ‘made the first move’. Chandler has been transferred to the Central Virginia Regional Jail in Orange, Virginia, and will be jailed with the female inmates.
Chandler is known for creating an online comic series called Sonichu, which is about a character called Sonichu which is an illustrated combination of the characters Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog. They have also been the target of online harassment and doxxing since their content became popular in 2007.
Most of Chandler’s emails, private diary entries, and personal conversations of the last decade have been leaked on “CWCki”, a Wikipedia-style website with over 2,000 entries. The original forum version of CWCki later became “Kiwi Farms”, a popular internet forum that is linked to multiple suicides and the Christchurch, New Zealand shooter.
Green County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Monday: “On July 31st, 2021 the Greene Country Sheriff’s Office received information involving sex crimes against a family member, who resides in the Ruckersville area. Both the victim and the suspect reside in Greene County. Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued. On 8/1/2021, the Henrico Police Department was able to locate and arrest the following individual: Christine Weston Chandler of Ruckersville, VA. He is currently charged with the following: Va Code: 18.2-366 Incest. Chandler is currently being held without bond. This is an ongoing investigation with additional charges pending.”
