US District Judge blocks Arkansas ban on gender-transition treatments for children

On Wednesday, Judge James Moody stopped the state of Arkansas from, for the time being, enforcing a ban on doctors providing puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, or gender transition surgeries to minors.

Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said he would appeal the decision to a higher court. With the transgender rights movement growing seemingly by the day, more and more states will likely decide whether or not to allow doctors to provide puberty blockers for gender-confused minors. The precedent set by this US District Judge will likely be used in later cases as a defense for doctors using such practices.
