Rolling Stone reported that former President Donald Trump has allegedly told dinner guests on several occasions that he intends to run for president in 2024.
A former senior official at the Republican National Committee told Rolling Stone that at least three of his friends have dined with Trump, who told them he is planning on running again in 2024. The official alleged that these dinners took place in the past few months, with the most recent taking place earlier this month. The official stated he was unsure whether or not the former president would follow through with this claim, but confirmed that this is what he has been telling people.
According to the first two dinner guests, they were convinced he would be running. However, the last guest said that he was unsure if Trump would actually run, but he claimed the former president likes his name being in the news and enjoys being part of the conversation. There has been a lot of debate in the past few months whether or not Trump will run again.
One of Trump’s former advisors confirmed that he has heard of similar conversations and that it appears he would like to run again based on these conversations. In a recent GOP survey, 50% of those polled responded that they would vote for Trump in the 2024 election. In second place came Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, with 19% of the vote. Sean Hannity posed the question to Trump during a Fox News town hall, where Trump said he had made up his mind on whether or not he would re-run.
