Daughter testifies against dad accused of killing his 3-year-old son in Dallas

Brandon Edwards’ 11-year-old daughter testified against her dad in his capital murder trial Monday.

Brandon Edwards, 37, is accused of stabbing his 3-year-old son Bryson Edwards to death two years ago. Until seeing him in court Monday at his capital murder trial, his 11-year-old daughter told jurors that her last memory of Edwards was when he violently snatched her brother away from her as she fled their home with her mother. Dallas police and prosecutors say Edwards then killed 3-year-old Bryson Edwards on Jan. 12, 2019.

If convicted, Edwards faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors’ witnesses Monday didn’t say how Bryson died. Edwards’ indictment states Bryson died of asphyxiation “by an unknown manner and means.” Before jurors heard Bryson’s sister testify, prosecutor Marissa Aulbaugh said the girl was frightened to come into court.

The girl feared that her father, whom she called by his first name in court, would attack her, Aulbaugh said. The Dallas Morning News is not identifying the girl because of her age.
