Universal Orlando drops mask requirement for fully vaccinated guests

As of May 29th, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida will be dropping its COVID-19 mask requirement for fully vaccinated guests.

After reaching the two-week mark following the last required vaccine dose, guests will no longer be required to cover up while on park grounds. According to the company, this applies to both outdoor and indoor areas. However, guests who aren’t fully vaccinated will be forced to continue wearing face coverings.

A Universal Orlando spokesperson explained to Fox Business, “While we will not require proof of vaccination, we do expect our guests to comply with this revised policy and to use face coverings if they have not been vaccinated.” Universal Studios is one of the latest among other companies who have been modifying their policies following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recent guidance.

Beginning in May, the CDC lessened mask-wearing guidance by allowing fully vaccinated individuals to stop wearing masks in outdoor and most indoor settings. According to Rochelle Walensky, the director of the CDC, “Anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physically distancing,” during a White House briefing on May 13th.
