REPORT: Facebook may have tried to censor posts about vaccine hesitancy

Facebook tried to censor posts about vaccine hesitancy, according to internal memos leaked by whistleblowers

According to Project Veritas, two Facebook Insiders have come forward with internal company documents detailing a plan to curb “vaccine hesitancy” (VH) on a global scale.

Using an algorithm that targets and demotes their comments on the site, Facebook is reportedly trying to silence COVID-19 vaccine skeptics, the latest big tech move. Two anonymous Facebook employees leaked internal memos to Project Veritas that shows the social media giant has tested a beta version of its algorithm to track down vaccine-hesitant users. Two Facebook employees leaked information about an algorithm designed to flag posts from those hesitant or opposed to the vaccine.

The hesitancy ratings are divided into zero, one and two. Comments in tier zero are explicit violations of Facebook policy while those in tier one are counted as “Alarmism & Criticism,” according to the documents obtained by Project Veritas.  “Based on that score, we will demote or leave the comment alone depending on the content within the comment,” an anonymous whistleblower told James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas. In a statement to The New York Post, a Facebook spokesperson said: “We proactively announced this policy on our company blog and also updated our help center with this information.”
