POLL: 2/3 of Americans, including many Republicans, in favor of commission to investigate January 6th

Two in three Americans, including many Republicans, are in favor of creating a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th attack on the US capital, according to a new Survey Monkey poll.

65 percent of respondents said they would support a commission. This includes 90 percent of Democrats, 73 percent of Independents, and 42 percent of Republicans. Only 37 percent of conservative Republicans supported the commission while a majority of moderate and liberal Democrats were in support. The commission was also found to be more popular amongst women than men. 78 percent of Republicans still believe Biden illegitimately won the election and 62 percent of Independents think the election was won fair. 94 percent of Democrats believe Biden won fair.

Conservative Republicans hold enough influence in their party to potentially block investigations into President Trump. From the looks of the polls this move could put Republicans at odds with many suburban and college-educated Republican voters. It is also important to not that only 58 percent of Republicans see their party as being united while 78 percent of Democrats feel that their party is united.
