California gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner has recently expressed that she supports a possible path to legal residency and eventual citizenship for the over 1.75 million undocumented immigrants in the California state labor force.
During a live discussion with Dana Bash, Caitlyn Jenner stated she decided to compete with current California Governor Gavin Newsom in the upcoming recall election. Additionally, she claimed that she has been largely dissatisfied with Governor Newsom’s handling of the situation on the southern border of California. Jenner expressed sentiments of a perceived betrayal by both the Biden Administration and Gavin Newsom’s governorship in their inability to deal with the crisis unfolding on the border.
Jenner also noted that many of the people making the dangerous trek across the border were children, saying “I am for legal immigration, okay. What’s been happening on the border was honestly one of the reasons I decided to run for governor.” Jenner later expanded, saying, “Absolutely, yeah. They should. I mean, there’s a lot of people, but personally I have met some of the most wonderful people who are immigrants, who have come to this country and they are just model citizens. They are just great people and I would fight for them to be US citizens.”
