As of last week, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey provided security aid to fellow Secretary of State Katie Hobbs after she received death threats during the latest election audit.
Katie Hobbs is no stranger to receiving intimidating threats and having a reception of opposition groups show up at her home in Arizona. Secretary Hobbs also received a security detail in the later weeks following the election in November 2020 due to protestors harassing her and approaching her property. So far, authorities have recently identified the most terrorizing of threats to be from a phone number located in Hawaii. These threats come in recent days after Mrs. Hobbs made comments related to the process and professionalism of the Arizona Maricopa County election results.
Hobbs told media “Their continued intimidation tactics will not prevent me from performing the duties I swore an oath to do.” The recent criticism that Hobbs has laid out for the audit team seems to be claims that there is no validity to the audit itself, even when Court Judges have allowed the audit to continue. Both Republicans and Democrats alike have received threats and disgusting comments from anonymous persons. While both parties denounce violence and threats and while they take them with serious gravity it does not provide an excuse on how some individuals may want to portray their circumstances in such ways that attack the other side as the ones sending the threats.
