Biden pays a visit to a D.C. Mexican restaurant to inform them of grant approval.
President Biden stopped by a restaurant named Taqueria Las Gemelas to personally inform them that they’d been approved for a grant. The money provided to the restaurant comes from the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund, proposed to get the country’s restaurants back on their feet.
“It was a wonderful morning. I can’t think of a better possible way to be accepted into the funds,” said co-owner Joshua Phillips. The $28.6 million fund covers up to $10 million of revenue loss credited to the troubles of the pandemic. Given that the restaurants who receive the support of the relief fund spend the money appropriately up until March 11th of 2023, they won’t have to repay the federal government.
Biden ordered four tacos and two quesadillas, all with different variations and flavors. He specifically ordered his staff not to touch his tacos. “He made it very clear to his team that they were his tacos and they were not allowed to touch them,” Phillips remarked. Biden took his order to go and commended the work of the 7 employees that remained during the pandemic’s reign. “Restaurants are more than a major driver in our economy; they’re woven in the fabric of our communities,” Biden said.
