White House announces 100 million Americans have now been fully vaccinated

According to the White House, 100 million Americans have been fully vaccinated, meaning one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or two shots of the others.

The major announcement was made Friday morning. The 100 million fully vaccinated individuals make up nearly 40 percent of the US adult population. The CDC also highlighted that fully vaccinated people can go outside without a mask on. Th White House COVID coordinator Jeff Zients announced, “Today we reached a major milestone in the number of Americans who are fully vaccinated. That’s a hundred million Americans with a sense of relief and peace of mind, knowing that after a long and hard year, they’re protected from the virus.” Zients also added that 300 million shots have been distributed and 220 million people have been inoculated.

The Biden administration is now focused on the next stage of the plan. They want to reach out to people who have not yet been vaccinated, increase access, and “debunk myths” about the vaccine. So far 55 percent of adults have had at least on dose of the vaccine. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has also stated that the administration has been reaching out to conservatives by putting vaccine ads on NASCAR and Country Music Television.
