Biden administration plans to double its climate-related financing to low-income countries by 2024

Through Thursday and Friday, President Biden held a virtual climate summit with 40 world leaders. Biden pledged to cut US greenhouse gas emissions in half by the year 2030.

The White House also plans on doubling its climate-related financing to low-income countries by 2024 and push the private sector to fund sustainable infrastructure. “These steps will set America on a path of a net-zero emissions economy by no later than 2050,” Biden said. He continued, “Scientists tell us that this is the decisive decade, this is the decade we must make decisions that will avoid the worst consequences of a climate crisis,” although climate experts haven’t made an accurate doomsday prediction in the 50 years they’ve been calling for disaster. Biden’s plan to cut carbon emissions by 50% to 52% is twice the amount of the target set by the Obama administration in 2015. Biden also pledged to make the US power sector 100% emissions free by 2035. To reach the numbers Biden is talking about, the DailyMail speculated that Americans would have to cut their red meat consumption by 90% and cut other animals out of their diet by about half. The Daily Mail estimated that Americans would consume about .18 ounces of red meat a day, or on burger a month. It’s also estimated that the plan would cost each taxpayer $3.5K a year.
