A ninth woman has now stepped forward to accuse Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, of sexual harassment. The incident occured back in 2017 when Governor Cuomo visited 55 year old Sherry Vill at her family’s home in Greece, New York.
Governor Cuomo was visiting Vill and her family after a flood had occurred, and traveled to the area to survey the damage. While there, he allegedly acted inappropriately toward Vill who was married at the time, called her beautiful, and behaved in a “highly flirtatious and inappropriate manner.” The final incident took place while Governor Cuomo was departing when he reportedly grabbed Sherry Vill’s face and kissed her cheeks as he left the premises leaving Vill quite uncomfortable.
Photographic evidence acquired by Vill’s attorney Gloria Allred exists, capturing what appears to be an image of Cuomo kissing her. According Attorney Gloria Allred “For years she [Sherry Vill] wanted to report what Governor Cuomo did to her, but some members of her family discouraged her from filing a complaint, because they wanted to protect her and feared that if she made what happened to her public that the Governor might use his power to retaliate against her and her family,”
Cuomo’s attorney, Rita Glavin has since responded to the allegations stating that the Governor will often greet individuals in a similar manner saying: “As I have said before, the Governor has greeted both men and women with hugs, a kiss on the cheek, forehead or hand for the past forty years.” She then went on to show pictures of other times that Governor Cuomo has greeted people in a similar manner.
Andrew Cuomo has apologized for making anyone feel uncomfortable in the workplace, but he still denies having any fault, as these types of cases seem to be piling up. After a press conference Vill and her attorney announced that they are going to contact the New York Attorney General’s office in order to cooperate in the ongoing investigation on the allegations.
