China builds massive quarantine camp to hold citizens infected with COVID-19

As infections begin to rise, China has built a massive quarantine map that can hold 4,000 people.

According to a Chinese state media outlet CGTN, more than 20,000 citizens from villages surrounding Shijiazhuang, the capital and largest city in the province of Hebei, have already been relocated to other quarantine sites. Construction began on January 12th and  according to Independent, there were more than 4,000 construction workers working for 6 days in order to get the first phase done.

The quarantine complex was initially meant for only 3,000 people but was expanded for 4,160 patients. The CCP has launched mass covid testing efforts. Hebei residents have been tested multiple times per The Week, and there have been at least 180 new covid patients. Hospitals are also being built in the surrounding cities in the province of Hebei.

These actions reflect the same ones done when hospitals were being built in Wuhan only a few days after the virus broke out. China reportedly has had less than 10,000 confirmed coronavirus, though many officials are skeptical of Chinese authorities. Chinese Government officials have urged citizens to restrict their travel in anticipation for the Lunar New Year.
