Elon Musk said on Thursday in a tweet that he was tested for covid four times early last week, with two tests coming back negative and the two others coming back positive.
“Something extremely bogus is going on” the Tesla CEO said in the tweet. He went on to say that all of the tests were the same kind and from the same testing center. “Same machine, same test, same nurse. Rapid antigen test from BD,” Musk said in a tweet, possibly referring to Becton Dickinson and Co’s rapid antigen tests, according to Fox News. When asked by a Twitter user if he showed any symptoms, Musk said he had symptoms of a “typical cold.”
Experts have long cautioned that such rapid tests are not as reliable as others at diagnosing the coronavirus, according to NPR. There are other tests, including one called PCR, widely seen as the “gold standard.” Musk has also participated in one of these tests, but the results have not yet been released.
