On Monday, The New York Post endorsed President Trump for reelection in an editorial, saying it would result in “explosive job creation, rising wages and general prosperity.”
President Donald Trump thanked the New York Post Monday after it became the largest newspaper to issue an endorsement for his reelection campaign. Trump posted an editorial board article from his former hometown newspaper, the New York Post, endorsing the president. ‘Thank you! #MAGA’ Trump tweeted, along with a link to the editorial published Monday morning and titled ‘The New York Post endorses President Donald J. Trump for re-election’.
The Post was once the lifelong New Yorker’s home newspaper, but Trump changed his residency to Florida last year after claiming he no longer felt like New York was home.
Other media outlets that have endorsed Trump for his 2020 reelection include the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Santa Barbara News-Press, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Washington state-based Spokesman Review. More than 100 other newspapers and media outlets have endorsed Joe Biden. Among those who endorsed Biden are The New York Times, The Washington Post, Boston Globe, USA Today and New York Daily News, among several other big-name and small-name newspapers (MSN).
This endorsement comes after The Post earlier this month published a series of controversial reports on Biden’s son Hunter Biden. The newspaper initially wrote that it had obtained emails showing Hunter Biden arranged a meeting between his father, who was serving as vice president at the time, and a Ukrainian businessman.
“We can return to the explosive job creation, rising wages and general prosperity we had before the pandemic. We can have economic freedom and opportunity, and resist culture and censorship. We can put annus horribilis, 2020, behind us and make America great again, again. We can do all this – if we make the right choice on Nov. 3,” the publication stated. Regarding Democratic candidate Joe Biden, The Post argued that “Biden would open the border floodgates again, and by all appearances would go back to ‘normalization’ with China – a byword for them eating our lunch.”
“President Trump will not be looking to remake the country. He will trust that America will, given support but not interference, bounce back. He will, in short, not get in the way. Re-electing him is the best choice for the United States,” the Post wrote in its endorsement on Monday. “Plus, it’ll really tick off Hollywood.” The Post withheld endorsing Trump or Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 (The Hill).
