Three declassified videos of “unexplained aerial phenomena” have been released by the US Department of Defense, according to BBC. The Pentagon made a comment saying they wanted to “clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real.” The videos in question were originally leaked in 2007 and 2017, with two of them being published by the New York Times and the third was leaked by an organization co-founded by Tom DeLonge, the former singer of Blink-182. The clip that was leaked in 2007 was filmed by two navy fighter pilots in 2004 and depicts a round object hovering above the water about 100 miles out into the Pacific Ocean, according to the New York Times. The other two videos were filmed in 2015 and show two objects moving through the air, one of which is spinning. A pilot is heard saying “Look at that thing dude! It’s rotating!” ~

The Pentagon said in it’s statement: “After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorised release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems, and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena. The DOD [Department of Defense] is releasing the videos in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos. The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as ‘unidentified’.” ~

Details have been revealed about a five-year Pentagon program that has been doing research on unidentified flying objects, and there have been claims of metal alloys being recovered from unidentified phenomena. This program was pushed by former Senate majority leader Harry Reid, a Democrat from Nevada. He claims that the officially released videos are only a glimpse of what the public might learn about U.F.O.s and other mysteries of space. “I’m glad the Pentagon is finally releasing this footage, but it only scratches the surface of research and materials available,” he said Monday on Twitter. “The U.S. needs to take a serious, scientific look at this and any potential national security implications. The American people deserve to be informed.” ~
