Everything you should know about Dr. Seuss books being cancelled for “racist and insensitive imagery”

Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders canceled upcoming campaign events and appearances following hospitalisation with chest pains Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the Senator’s campaign, Mr. Sanders received two stents after doctors discovered a blocked artery, but the procedure went flawlessly and Sanders is “conversing and in good spirits.” Sanders, 78, is the oldest among the crowded field of 2020 Democratic candidates, and was scheduled Wednesday to make appearances at a gun safety forum and a town hall in Vegas. ~
Bernie Sanders, who got second in the Democratic presidential primaries in the 2016 election, has had a monumental impact on the ideals of the Democratic party and has been a leading figure in the 2020 election. According to Vox, since his entrance into national politics as a house representative of Vermont in 1990, Mr. Sanders’ goals have remained quite similar: a political and economic revolution on the grounds of Democratic socialism. In an interview earlier this year on CBS This Morning, Mr. Sanders claimed that “We are going to launch what I think is unprecedented in modern American history, and that is a grassroots movement to lay the groundwork for transforming the economic and political life of this country.” Stances that distinguished the Senator from Hilary Clinton and other Democrats in 2016 – such as Medicare-for-all, a $15 minimum wage, or a green new deal – no longer distinguish Mr. Sanders, as many Democratic candidates have assumed similar stances, such as Senator Elizabeth Warren. ~
According to CNBC, Bernie Sander’ halt in campaigning comes just one day after his campaign reported a fundraising total of $25.3 million for the third quarter, putting him at the top of the Democratic pack in that aspect. Despite this, it remains unclear when exactly Mr. Sanders will return to the campaign trail. Senator Kamala Harris, a Democratic rival, voiced her support for Mr. SandersTuesday, stating on Twitter that she is “Thinking of @BernieSanders today and wishing him a speedy recovery. If there’s one thing I know about him, he’s a fighter and I look forward to seeing him on the campaign trail soon.” ~
